As a group of highly motivated and passionate individuals that are set out to change lives, we each have our own story of personal struggles and sacrifices that we want to spare our current and future generations from. So our jobs are not just “jobs”, they are opportunities to truly inspire and make a difference. When we see an opportunity to do so, not only do we jump on it, but we go full steam ahead.
This past week, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) hosted a thought-provoking and action-oriented session with thought leaders and Community College Presidents from across Florida designed to create a new model for higher education to 1) meet the needs of industry, 2) address challenges of student success, and 3) focus on important issues of equity, inclusion, and diversity. This task force on Equity and Workforce Innovation was held in Tallahassee, FL.
NACCE reported the results in a press release: Briefing Report: National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship Announces Higher Education Task Force Results. The briefing states that while the task force will be initially implemented in Florida, the plans are for this work to lead the way towards a national movement. Jeff Hayes, CEO at The Myers-Briggs Company, along with Natasha Labos, Maria Frias, and Chris Mackey, were in attendance.
“As part of the design thinking process, this singular group of business leaders, educators, and policymakers identified key stakeholders in the transformation of the higher education system. It was clear that business plays a pivotal role in solving these national challenges. NACCE is acting as a catalyst for action and developing a common language and understanding between business and education around how to prepare our nation’s workforce for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st Century.” – Chris Mackey, General Manager, VitaNavis – Innovation Labs, The Myers-Briggs Company
